Mrs. Francis earned her degree in Environmental Sciences (University of Virginia) and worked briefly in the consulting field. She earned her Professional Collegiate Certificate in Earth/Space/General Sciences (James Madison University) and began teaching Earth Science at Loudoun County High School in 1984. She coached Girls' Track (1984 - 1989) and Boys' & Girls' Cross Country (1984 - 1994). Mrs. Francis earned her Masters in Science in Environmental Biology (Hood College) in 2007. She attended her first AP Environmental Science Institute (APES Institute) in 2015, and participated in a follow-up Institute the summer of 2019 to keep abreast of changes to the APES curriculum and Spring Exam.Currently, Mrs. Francis is using the "Argumentation Model" to teach the requisite Research Skills, culminating in 3-4 Independant Research Projects for the Earth Science Students.Mrs. Francis is teaching Research Earth Science and AP Environmental Science (APES) for the 2021 - 2022 school year.Mrs. Francis's email
Students absent from class must visit Research Earth or APES Schoology Class. All agendas and most assignments (except those not on the computer) can be accessed from the student's Schoology class. I welcome all opportunities (emails, phone calls, conferences) to explain agenda notes and content, and any other assignments.
