My name is Linda Mejia. My family and friends know me as Lala. I was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. At the age of seven, because of my dad's job, we moved to Monrovia, Liberia. I became an EL student, and that was very scary because I didn't know the language spoken in my new home. At that time there was not such thing as an EL program. It was sink or swim. I am happy to say that because of the support of my wonderful parents, amazing teachers, and my determination I swam! That experience made me want to become an EL teacher.
I am fluent in English and Spanish and I am learning Arabic. During the summers I love to travel. I have been to Spain, Italy, France, Ireland, Bulgaria, Germany, Norway, Greece, Turkey, Jamaica, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Cote d'Ivoire, Zimbawe, Zambia, and South Korea. Where will I go next??? Stay tuned! I will start planning soon.
This is my first year at Seneca Ridge, and I am excited to be a part of the EL team. I am at Seneca Ridge on B days and provide reading and math support to our students during their resource period.
