Cheryle Mortreux Mikki Clay

Bonjour Piranhas! My name is Cheryle Mortreux and I am thrilled to be here at Waxpool Elementary School this year! I am a Radford University graduate. I teach kindergarten through fifth grade and have been teaching now for over 21 years. I taught in Prince William County for three years and then I moved to Loudoun County in 2001 to open John W. Tolbert Elementary School where I taught for for twelve years. I then went on to open Frederick Douglass Elementary and was there for seven years. I am very passionate about my position and love watching my students learn and grow...

"I feel that it is an absolute privilege and blessing to be an art teacher in the world today. There is so much we, as art teachers, can do to brighten the lives of those around us and help others view life from a different perspective."

Hello Piranhas! My name is Mikki Clay and I am super excited to be at Waxpool Elementary as one of your art teachers! This is my fifth year of teaching and 1st year teaching in Loudoun county. I graduated from The Art Institute of Washington with a Bachelor’s in Media Arts and Animation. I’m originally from Opelika, Alabama and moved to the DMV area in 2011 to pursue my passion for art. I love watching my students learn and grow and I am excited to make this my best year yet!
