Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Tracy Holdridge
My name is Tracy Holdridge. My Dad was an Air Force rocket scientist, so I grew up near air force bases all over the country, but for the majority of my school years we were in California. I went to UCLA and received my B.S. in Chemistry with the goal of becoming a Forensic Chemist. Unfortunately, the economic recession and scarcity of jobs in the field foiled that plan. Before becoming a stay at home Mom, I worked in many industries including environmental chemistry, medical research, and pharmacies.
After my children were in school I began substitute teaching, I enjoyed it so much that I applied to and completed the Career Switcher program offered through Shenandoah University in order to get my license. Even though this was an accelerated program, it has thoroughly filled in the gaps in my knowledge between my degree and my experience as a substitute to fully prepare me to have my own classes. I have endorsements in both high school Math and Chemistry.
Last year I taught Geometry, Discrete Math and Statistics at Woodgrove High School. The teacher I replaced left on the forth day of school so I had to hit the ground running. I loved my year at Woodgrove and I was nominated by the administration for LCPS substitute of the year. I really enjoy the high school math curriculum and I am really looking forward to bringing my experience to J L Simpson's eight graders!
