My name is Sara Breitzmann and this will be my second year at Hillside and in Loudoun County. I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction. I have over 15 years of experience teaching preschool and Kindergarten.
My family and I moved to Aldie from Indiana in 2019 and love it here. My son is a sophmore at Independence High School and my twin girls are in eighth grade at Brambleton Middle School. Our puppy, Ashby, joined our family this spring. My children are all travel soccer players, so we spend a lot of time at practices and games. When we are not at the soccer field, I love taking walks through my neighborhood or hiking in the mountains. I also love to curl up with a good book and a cup of tea.
Kindergarten is the beginning of your child's school journey. We will spend time learning how to go to school, how to work with our classmates and how to keep trying even when it seems difficult. We will be learning to do things independently and when it is important to ask for help. We will practice kindness and respect for each other. We will be laying the foundations for literacy and math skills. You will see your child grow as readers and writers. We will try hands-on science and social studies lessons. And we will talk about our feelings and emotions.
As parents, you are an important and valuable part of your child's education. I look forward to working with you this year to support your child's education. There are always challenges in any school year, but this year they may feel greater because of the unknowns. Starting Kindergarten at home is not ideal and I am looking forward to being back in the classroom as soon as we can. Please feel free to email me any time with questions or concerns.
Let the Kindergarten adventure begin!
