Mr. Oscar Cardenas

¡Hola! ¿Qué tal?

My name is Oscar Cárdenas. I am the Spanish Language and Culture Teacher. I have a B.S. in Information Science and Documentation Technology from Quindío University in Colombia. I also attended a Virginia Department Of Education Career Switcher program at Blue Ridge Community College. For 9 years I taught Spanish from elementary to middle school pupils in North Branch School, a private school in Afton, Virginia. I had previous experience in schools and universities as a librarian and media resources director in Bogotá, Colombia for several years.

Until 2007, I was employed with Virginia Cooperative Extension from Virginia Tech with the EFNEP program (Expanded Food Nutrition Education Program) as a program assistant. I conducted a Virginia Department of Agriculture nutrition education programs to Spanish-speaking families in the Rockingham and Harrisonburg areas with great results in behavior changes.

I live in Reston with my wife and my two children. In my free time, I like to read, and watch and play soccer.
