    Matthew Ludwig
    United States History I

After earning his undergraduate degree from California University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Ludwig went on to complete his teaching certification at James Madison University in 2002.  He then joined the Clarke County Public School system where he taught, for five years, fourth and fifth grade students in looping and multi-age classrooms.

In the fall of 2007, he had the pleasure of joining the staff of J.L. Simpson as a teacher of English. Eight years later, Mr. Ludwig transitioned to the History Department where he has since taught United States History to 1865 to sixth grade Mustangs and United States History from 1865 to the Present to seventh graders. He hopes to create in his students a life-long appreciation and respect for the story of our country.

Mr. Ludwig lives in Winchester, Virginia with his wife and two daughters, one of which started her own middle school experience this year. Mr. Ludwig enjoys reading a balance of fiction and nonfiction, lazy early mornings outdoors, and ice cream.
