    It is important for each potential SCA/Project Management candidate to keep in mind the commitment and responsibility that you are accepting when applying to be a part of the STUDENT COUNCIL ASSOCIATION (SCA) of INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL.  The SCA is an organization that represents the entire student body, and its leaders play a special and critical role in creating traditions for future generations and making student government both a vital and contributing part of IHS.

    Please note the the SCA Officer election process and the SCA Executive Board member selection process is entirely separate from the Class Council election process. A student may be a member of the SCA Executive Board and a Class Council officer; however, a student may not serve as both an SCA Officer and a Class Council Officer. The Class Council Officer election process will take place once the 2019-2020 school year has begun.

     

    Requirements

    • Submission of the SCA/Project Management Application via the required Google Form
    • Submission of required Teacher Recommendation forms via Google Forms
    • Good citizenship record with current school
    • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above as of the end of Semester 1 of the 2018-2019 school year (to be verified by administration).
    • Please review the description of the officer positions via http://bit.ly/IndySCAInfo .  Then, please note grade requirements for positions:
      • President: Junior only
      • Vice President - Operations, Vice President - Outreach, Chief Innovation Officer, Chief Information Officer: Junior or Sophomore
      • Executive Board: Junior or Sophomore

    If you are running for SCA Office, you will have a filmed Candidate Interview:

    Your filmed Candidate Interview will ask you to provide answers to the same four short answer questions you will answer on the application. Significant/inappropriate deviation from the text you submit is grounds for disqualification.  Please be sure to dress to impress on the day of your interview!

    In-person interviews for all those applying for SCA Executive Board/Project Management course (Those elected to SCA office do not complete an interview.)

    SCA Officer & Executive Board Application:

    The application is available on the Independence HS website or via http://bit.ly/application2020 . Please note the application is View Only. After opening the application, Make a Copy of the application. Name that document YourName_SCA_Application (example: MattEllis_SCA_Application). Move the application to your Google Drive.

     

    When you are ready to submit your application, go to: http://bit.ly/submission2020 . This Google Form will ask you for some basic information; require you to get your parent/guardian to type their name, giving their support to your application; and then ask you to upload your completed application.

     

    Teacher Recommendation Forms:

    You must have two teachers submit teacher recommendation forms. Please provide each teacher with this link to submit your teacher recommendation forms: http://bit.ly/teacherform2020 .

     

    These forms must be received by March 22, so please give the link to your teachers (and explain what it’s for) by March 15, so your teachers have time to complete the recommendations.
