Mrs. Markowitz

Mrs. Markowitz is originally from Syracuse, NY.  She moved to Virginia and started teaching Chemistry in 1998 at Oakton High School in Fairfax County.  She helped open Westfield High School in 2000, where she taught Biology until 2003 when she had her first child.  She then took 15 years off of official teaching to raise a family.  In that time, she also developed her own homeschool science classes and taught small groups in her home.  In 2016 she started substitute teaching at Farmwell Middle School and in January, 2019 she started teaching 6th grade science at River Bend and switched to Life Science in the fall of 2019.  

Mrs. Markowitz lives in Ashburn Village with her husband and 3 kids: Ethan is in 11th grade and Emma is in 9th grade, both at Broad Run HS, and Ellie is in 7th grade at Farmwell Station MS. She loves reading, kayaking, paddleboarding (SUP), fishing, and spending time with her family and friends.
