Degrees and Certifications:

Kristyn Marrott

Hello! I'm Mrs. Marrott and this is my second year at Eagle Ridge. As a case manager I support students in grades 6 and 7. I also teach Language Arts 6. I enjoy working in 6th grade helping students (and parents) make the transition to middle school. As a former LCPS student myself, I have a deeper understanding of the nerves and excitement that lockers, block scheduling, freedom and responsibility can bring. I went to Farmwell Station Middle School and was one of the first classes to go through the A/B schedule change. For my students I am living proof that they will make it through!

After graduating from Broad Run High School, I attended Brigham Young Univeristy Hawaii then Brigham Young Univeristy Idaho. I graduated from Idaho in 2014 and moved back to Ashburn with my family. I love reading, cheesy holiday movies, everything Disney, and performing as the lead singer of hometown band Queens Over Kings.

My teaching is "fun, but firm." The ultimate goal in building relationships with my students is to encourage them to be self-reliant. Through structure, creativity, technology, choice, and a dose of struggle, students will develop skills for the classroom as well as daily life. Time in class is built using a combination of strategies from Orton-Gillingham and lessons provided by Language! Live. Students regularly apply these strategies in context and practice fluency, comprehension, and written expression.
