Mrs. Tonya James
Hello! Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I am so excited to begin my 4th year of teaching here at Broad Run! This truly is a great school with great students, faculty, staff, and administration! As some of you are already aware, I began my career in Maryland in 2003 at the smallest school in the state of Maryland. I was a business teacher at Hancock High School for 10 years. In 2010, I transferred to the largest school in Washington County, Maryland, South Hagerstown High School. I was the Instructor/Coordinator of the Teacher Academy of Maryland as well as taught several business classes. Lastly, I spent my last year in Washington County at Clear Spring Middle School teaching Technology Education to grades 6-8.
As for my personal life, I was born and raised in Cumberland, Maryland. I attended Fort Hill High School--GO BIG RED! I graduated in 1998. I attended Allegany College of Maryland from 1998-2000 where I received my Associate's degree in Business Education. I immediately transferred to Frostburg State University in Frostburg, MD where I graduated in May 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education. I then immediately began my master's education journey at Indiana University of Pennsylvania where I graduated in May 2003 with a Master of Education in Business/Workforce Development. I currently live in Berkeley Springs, WV and am married to my high school sweetheart. We have 3 beautiful children--2 boys and a girl--ages 5, 9, and 12.
I am looking forward to a great year! If you need anything, please do not hesitate to contact me at tonya.james@lcps.org or call the school during my planning periods which are period 3 and period 6. Thanks and GO SPARTANS!
