    • This Friday March 13th B-day will be celebrating Pi-Day. Make and wear your own original Pi-themed T-shirt and come to the Rust Commons on the 1st floor at Lunch for a chance to win a prize!

     

    • We will be celebrating Pi-Day this Friday. It is not too late to enter "something Pi-related" in the Maker Pi-Day Competition. All entries must be registered to be included in voting, which will take place on Friday until the end of lunch. See the signs around school for details.

     

    • Have you signed up for the Pi-Day Scavenger Hunt happening this Friday at lunch? Sign up for a chance for you and your friends to win a prize. Sign ups are through the QR code found on Pi-Day posters around school.

     

    • Congrats to members of team RoboLoCo (and to Darth Rivets) who competed this past weekend at the Chesapeake District Greater DC Competition. Our team made it to the semi-finals and also won The Innovation in Control Award for their robot design. Wish them luck for the next competition in a couple of weeks where their performace might send them on to The District Championships.

     

    • Please check lost and found outside of the Admin Auite for any of your lost belongings. There are many coats, lunch boxes and water bottles. Any items that have not been collected will be donated at the end of March. Thank you.

    • It's National Reading Month! For the month of March we challenge you to read for at least 15 minutes every day. Stop by the circulation desk to pick up a reading log and share your reading journey using the #RaptorsRead.

     

    • There is a yearbook meeting TODAY at 12:50PM in room 2404! We have a surprise! We will also be talking about our progress in the yearbook walking through page by page.

     

    • Do you want to be ACL's air hockey champion? Check out SCA town hall in room 1203 today to play air hockey and get to know your SCA representatives. See you there!

    • To All EL Students and their Teachers: The English Learners TedEd Club will be meeting on Wednesday, March 4 and Thursday the 5th right after lunch in the Green Commons on the 2nd floor. Please be ready to begin speaker training.

     

    • TOMORROW is your last chance to upload your Pi-tacular Pi -Day Flip Grid Video and enter a chance to win prizes for you and up to four friends. -- Find a Pi-Day poster on the bulletin boards / classroom doors for details.

     

    • Are you creative? Can you design and create something Pi-Worthy ? Enter the Pi-Day Maker Competition which will be held on March 12th & March 13th. Your entry must relate to the number Pi and be no larger than 314 mm x 314 mm x 314 mm. See QR code on Pi-Day posters to register.

     

    • The PhysicsBowl Club will meet on Thursday, March 5th during lunch in room 1316. If you are interested in competitive physics, feel free to join us!

    • RoboLoCo will be competing in their first district competition this weekend at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda MD. The event is FREE and open to the public from 9:00am-7:00pm this Saturday and Sunday so please stop by! If you would like to see our robot "Darth Rivets" in person, we will be showing him off Thursday (and maybe Friday) at lunch near the learning stairs.

     

    • We will have a yearbook meeting this coming Monday 3/9 and Tuesday 3/10 at 12:50PM in room 2404! We have a surprise! We will also be talking about our progress in the yearbook walking through page by page.

     

    • Public speaking is arguably the most important skill to have. Improve your public speaking skills by joining the public speaking club! The interest meeting is TODAY at 1 o'clock in room 2404.

     

    • The General Dynamics Information Technology presentation scheduled for today and tomorrow has been canceled. It will be rescheduled for later in March. Dates will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

     

    • Do you want to be ACL's air hockey champion? Check out SCA town hall in room 1203 on Tuesday, March 10th to play air hockey and get to know your SCA representatives. See you there!

     

    • The Academies of Loudoun is excited to host Eric Berkenpas of Second Star Robotics, today, during lunch in the Auditorium for his talk on How to engineer solutions to study the world’s most extreme environments. Mr. Berkenpas has been around the world from Antarctica to King Tut’s tomb creating solutions for National Geographic expeditions. Please arrive as quickly as possible. A dessert reception will follow for those attending.

    • New Club Alert! Pi club is a club that helps others through tutoring in a variety of subjects, including math, science, and computer science. We meet in room 1301 every Wednesday, come on over for free tutoring and a fun group to hang out with!

Be sure to check them out!

    • This is a reminder that the Academies of Loudoun is continuing to participate in the TREX Bags to Benches program. Please bring in your clean plastic bags and place them in the TREX receptacles throughout the building or bring them to Mrs. Lohr in room 1303.

     

    • TODAY (Tuesday February 25th) IS THE DAY FOR B-Day STUDENTS (AND TEACHERS) to VOTE FOR Their Favorite Pi-Day Sticker. Teachers-Please open the link sent by e-mail and allow your students to vote for their favorite sticker. Voting for B-day stickers closes TODAY at 3:30pm.
