    • Keep working on your short story for the Speculative Fiction Contest. Be sure you're following the contest deadlines. If you have any questions, please check with Ms. Roberts in the library.

     

    • TSA will meet Thursday and Friday of this week during lunch in Mrs. Williams classroom 0305. Check your email and remind for details.

     

    • Attention student drivers. The speed limit on school property is 15 miles per hours. During dismissal, we are observing students running and driving in an unsafe manner. Failure to drive drive safely will result in parking permits being revoked.

     

    • Students, if you have turned in your computer for a repair, please check your school email or drop by the genius bar to see if your device is ready for pickup. If you were issued a loaner device, make sure to have it with you so you can return it.

     

    • Are you a girl? Do you like solving problems? Following clues? Academies of Loudoun’s Cyber Club is sponsoring the Girls Go Cyber Start Capture the Flag competition. This year’s Girls Go CyberStart Assess is open until Jan 31st. Every girl that completes at least 5 challenges in CyberStart Assess round qualifies for CyberStart Game, when prizes and scholarships are up for grabs. A great resume builder that you can do online and on your own time, there are no commitments necessary. Mr. Staples’ Cybersecurity students are happy to help. If you have questions come to Room 2307 anytime today.

    • MITRE Corporation will be here on Thursday 1/16 at lunchtime to talk about their research internship for 9th and 10th grade students, as well as opportunities at MITRE for students in 11th and 12th grade!

     

    • The Medical Honor Society is holding its first book drive though January 17th for the Salvation Army. Even if you are not a member of the Medical Honor Society, we encourage all students to participate; it is an easy way to give back to our community. If you have any extra books at home, or any that you don't read anymore, please consider donating. There are bins placed next to the cafe and in front of room 2204.

    • There is a Yearbook meeting TODAY in room 2404. Please arrive by 12:50PM. We will be taking yearbook club photos, spend some time working through the pages as well as interviewing people during lunch! We will also be solidifying the front cover design.

We expect every student to respect the minute of silence and Pledge of Allegiance, which means you should pause and remain silent during the minute of silence then recite or continue to remain silent during the Pledge of Allegiance. If you are in the hallway during the minute of silence and Pledge of Allegiance you should stop in place and be respectful during both. Once the Pledge of Allegiance is completed you can continue to your class. As morning announcements are being made, we expect you to be attentive so you do not miss critical information.     • Hey budding filmmakers, it's your time to shine! The Academies is hosting its first ever school-wide Film Festival competition and awards ceremony and we welcome your entries. Cash prizes will be awarded for winning films and screenplays. Submissions are now open through April and any Academies' student can participate. Just scan the QR code on one of the bulletin board posters or see Ms. Wall in Room 102 for more information.
