Mr. Bret Spencer
This is my third year at Smart's Mill, and my eleventh year in education. This year I am the 8th Grade Dean. In the past, I have taught Math 8; Algebra 1; Geometry; Algebra, Functions, and Data Analysis; and Algebra 2 classes.
I am originally from Elderton, Pennsylvania. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education – Mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. I earned my Master’s Degree in Supervision and Administration from Shenandoah University.
I have a caring wife and two daughters, ages 6 years old and 1 year old, to keep me busy at home. I am a Pittsburgh sports fan. I love to watch the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates when I have the opportunity. My family loves visiting amusement parks, playing board games, and competing at miniature golf. I live in Loudoun County now after 8 years in the Shenandoah Valley.
I hope to make this year great. For some of the 8th grade students, I have watched them grow so much from their first day of 6th grade. My goal is to provide my students with the skills needed to succeed during school and in life. I want students to leave Smart's Mill as a confident learner with problem solving and logical thinking skills that can be applied to their everyday lives. I am excited to meet my new students and anxious to start on a new journey this year.
