About Me

Steve Hummer This is my Fifteenth year at Heritage High School. My story begins in a little town not too far from here, Middleburg. It was here that I was born and raised. And yes, the rumors are true, I did graduate from one of the other high schools located in Leesburg, but that was back in olden times when there were fewer options Only 4!) available. From there I went to James Madison University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Following college I spent the next few years working at a variety of vocations. During that time I worked as a Park Ranger at a small, county operated gold mining museum, in the facilities department at an equine hospital and on production crews for ABC Sports and NBC Sports at such events as the Preakness, the President’s Cup and Monday Night Football. After several years of bouncing around, I decided it was time to get a real job and make something of myself. I enrolled at George Mason University’s Graduate School of Education where I completed the coursework to get my license and Master’s degree in Education.

And that brings us to now. I'll once again be teaching U. S. and Va Government, World of Ideas, and Psychology this year. I am also the Faculty Sponsor for the HHS Chapter of the National Social Studies Honor Society (Rho Kappa). In addition, I am the Coordinator for the Pride In Our Community Senior Experience. I am also a Certified Instructor for Conscious Discipline, working to bring the SEL program to the Secondary Level. Feel free to drop me a line and say “Hi!” Parents, I would love to hear from you!
