Jessica Kirkland

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! This is Mrs. Kirkland's second year at Rock Ridge High School teaching 9th and 11th grade English (her favorite grades to teach). Mrs. Kirkland is originally from Georgia but has lived in Loudoun County with her husband and two daughters since 2011. She received her Bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern University and her Master's degree in Secondary Education from Shenandoah University.

Mrs. Kirkland is a super-early morning person, often waking up before 4 am. School is her favorite place to be- nobody makes her laugh harder than her students. You will always know her class by the loud music playing during passing periods. When she's not in the classroom, Mrs. Kirkland is usually working through a long (LONG) reading list, working out, spending time with her family, and trying to convince her daughters they do not want to go to Atomic Trampoline. Mrs. Kirkland LOVES: Diet Coke, Pizza Friday, Dollar Tree, when kids' assignments amuse her, Spirit Week, going outside for class, when beloved former scholars pop by for a visit. Her favorite books so far this year have been Pachinko by Min Jin Lee and There There by Tommy Orange.

In Mrs. Kirkland's class, we are all scholars.
