Mrs. Pennix

Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Pennix

Hello, my name is Shalana Pennix.  I am very excited to be a part of the Legacy Elementary family.  I was born and raised in Thomasville, North Carolina.  I have been teaching special education for 10 years.  I received my bachelor’s degree from Pfeiffer University in Human Services, as well as a bachelor’s degree from High Point University in Special Education. I then received my Master of Arts degree in Special education from George Mason University.  While there I really enjoyed learning more about children with Autism and received a certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis.

When I’m not teaching I enjoy spending quality time with my husband and our three children.  I also enjoy working with teenage girls in my church, traveling to NC to visit my family, and dancing.

After taking a couple of years off work and being a stay at home mom, I am very excited about starting my journey back in the classroom.  My goals are to make learning FUN and allow students the opportunity to learn in a variety of ways.  I know this will be a fun and exciting school year and I look forward to getting to know each of your children.
