Mrs. Rebecca Bliss Plenter
I am thrilled to be entering my fourth year at Trailside Middle School as the Special Education SALT (Subject Area Lead Teacher / Department Chair), Interim Special Education Dean, and eighth grade English Instructional Specialist.
I grew up on the Connecticut shoreline in the picturesque town of Essex. I received my Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Economics and Finance from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts, and participated in extensive studies in Classical Piano at the New England Conservatory of Music. After graduating from Simmons College, I spent eighteen years at Delta Air Lines as a Head Purser for overseas flights out of New York City, which gave me the wonderful opportunity to travel and see the world.
My family moved to Leesburg, Virginia in 2004. At that time, I decided to pursue my interest in cooking and worked in management at l’Academie de Cuisine Culinary School in Bethesda, Maryland for several years. I, subsequently, received my professional certificates in French Culinary Arts from them, and to this day enjoy spending time in the kitchen.
My true passion and dream have always been to teach, so I pursued a Master of Education in Special Education at George Mason University. It has been the most rewarding position of my life to work with students in the Loudoun County Public School System. I am certified in numerous literacy and reading intervention programs and enjoy utilizing these tools in the classroom. As I continued my educational growth, I recently graduated with a Post-Master's Certificate in Educational Leadership and Administration from The George Washington University. I am currently working on my Certificate in School Management and Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Business School.
In my free time, I enjoy watching New England sports with my family and reading the "Great Books"!
I look forward to a wonderful 2021-2022 year together!
