Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Rebecca Plenter
I am thrilled to be joining Trailside Middle School as an Instructional Specialist for seventh grade Language Arts. Previously, I was a fifth grade Special Education Teacher and am delighted to now be part of the middle school environment!
I grew up on the Connecticut shoreline in the picturesque town of Essex. I received my Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Economics and Finance from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts and participated in extensive studies in Classical Piano at the New England Conservatory of Music. After graduating from Simmons College, I spent eighteen years at Delta Air Lines as a Head Purser Flight Attendant for overseas flights out of New York City, which gave me the wonderful opportunity to travel and see the world.
My husband, son, and I moved to Leesburg, Virginia in 2004. At that time, I decided to pursue my interest in cooking, and worked in management at l’Academie de Cuisine Culinary School in Bethesda, Maryland for several years. I, subsequently, received my professional certificates in French Culinary Arts from them, and to this day enjoy spending time in the kitchen.
My true passion and dream have always been to teach, so I pursued a Master of Education in Special Education at George Mason University. It has been the most rewarding position of my life to work with students in the Loudoun County Public School System.
In my free time, I enjoy watching New England sports with my family and attending Heritage High School football games to see my son, currently a junior, play on the varsity team.
I am excited to be a member of the Trailside pack and look forward to a wonderful 2018-2019 year together!
