Mrs. Mary E B Wilkerson
Hello! My name is Mary Beth Wilkerson. I am one of the new Special Education teachers at Countryside Elementary 2018-2019. I will be facilitating learning with students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade. I am looking forward to working with your child this year!
I am originally from Greensboro, North Carolina. I graduated from the University of North Carolina Greensboro in 2005 with my B. S. in Special Education K-12. Since receiving my undergraduate degree, I have lived in 4 different states and worked in 5 school districts across North Carolina, Georgia and Maryland. I have taught K-8, special education; English Language Arts, Math, Science, Resource,Social Skills/Behavior and Life Skills. I have worked in the self contained, inclusion and resource settings. Most recently I completed my Masters in Special Education; Mild to Moderate Disabilities at Western Carolina University.
I moved to Ashburn in July 2018, with my husband of 17 years and three children. My daughter is in the 5th grade,my son is in the 3rd, and I have 4 year old in preschool. Ashburn is quickly becoming home. We love the people, the lay out of the city, and living close to D.C., ( I am a huge history enthusiast).
In my free time, I like to travel to visit family in North Carolina, visit museums locally, and love shopping and eating out with my family. I also enjoy being outdoors in cooler weather, visiting parks and going for hikes with my family. My favorite places to eat are Chick Fil A and the Cheesecake Factory. I love shopping at Target and Kohls.
I strive to be an advocate for all students in receiving the best education our school district can offer. I will support this mentality by being a lifelong learner and continuing to improve my craft in teaching by attending professional development provided by LCPS, and working with my teachers here at Countryside in a collaborative manner to increase and share my knowledge with your student.
My motto for life is Knowledge is Power. I firmly believe that by being a lifelong learner there is nothing in life that I am not capable of.
Please feel free to contact me via my school email, at any time with any concerns or questions you have. I will do my best to reply within 24 hours. If your response requires more specific information outside of the simple yes or no answer, please make sure to include your phone number and best time to reach you between the hours of 7:30am- 4:00 pm, and I will call you.
It takes a village to raise our children, and I am excited to become apart of yours!
