Back to School Night Video

Hello, I am Ms. Farfan or "Profe" Farfan. I am a Spanish native speaker from Argentina and I have been living in the United States since the year 2000. I lived in sunny San Diego, California, until 2016 when I moved to Virginia. In San Diego I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Television Film and New Media. After working as a news editor in television for a little while, I realized that it wasn't really my passion and I went back to school to get a Master's Degree in Spanish Linguistics and Literature from San Diego State University.

I have over nine years of experience teaching Spanish at university and college level and a couple of years teaching middle school and high school level in private schools. I had also established a successful tutoring business in San Diego that allowed me to teach students from different ages and backgrounds. I am also a translator and interpreter in the medical and legal fields. My passion is to teach the Latino culture and the Spanish language to inspire students to discover the wonderful benefits of being bilingual and knowledgeable about other cultures.

When I am not teaching I like to spend time with friends and family. I love foreign and independent films, tv series, photography, swimming and just recently I learned how to pickle vegetables (not quite successful yet). I also love to travel and get to know different cultures and people.

I am very excited to be part of the Smart’s Mill Middle School family and can’t wait to meet you all.
