Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!

I am looking forward to my third year at Trailside Middle School in 8th Grade English. Before working at Trailside, I taught reading and comprehension, and can’t wait to contribute to each student's literacy journey. 

I grew up in Oakton, Virginia and attended Smith College in Massachusetts where I studied Sociology and Education. After graduation, I returned to Northern Virginia to earn my degree in Special Education. I’m an avid reader and spend every summer reading just about as many books as I possibly can. I love fiction and some of my favorite authors include Barbara Kingsolver, Toni Morrison, Louise Erdrich, and Maya Angelou.

Other than school and reading, I love to spend time in Rehoboth Beach (where I’ve spent almost every summer since I’ve been 7) and exploring western Virginia. I'm also a huge animal and rescue advocate. My goals this year include helping each student find literature that is meaningful to them and to show students how reading and writing is relevant not only to school, but to their lives.

I can’t wait to meet everyone and look forward to a wonderful school year!
