Ms. Elizabeth Bush - World Languages Teacher & Dept. Chair

Elizabeth Bush teaches American Sign Language 1, 2, 3, and 4 Dual Enrollment this year.  She is excited to start the year seeing familiar faces and many new faces taking ASL.  It is especially wonderful to see younger siblings of previous students.  This year ASL 4 will be Dual Enrolled with Northern Virginia Community College and students will earn college credit for ASL 202.  If you are wondering what you will need for ASL class, she suggests bringing a folder or binder to keep track of papers, pencil/pen, and your Chromebook.  She loves to know where you have seen ASL used recently as well!

Many people wonder how Ms. Bush became an ASL teacher. She started taking ASL in high school while in Fairfax County. After high school she went to Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina and majored in ASL and minored in Interpreting. She then went to Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. to earn a Master's Degree in Deaf Studies with a concentration in Deaf History.  While in graduate school she interpreted part-time with Fairfax County Public Schools. After earning her M.A. she taught in Fairfax County for three years then at Heritage High School before coming to Rock Ridge when it opened.  She also sponsors the ASL Club and ASL Honor Society.

Some of Ms. Bush's favorite things are McDonald's Vanilla Iced Coffee, Milk Chocolate, watching movies and musicals, 90's music, anything Disney!
