Degrees and Certifications:

Elizabeth Bush - World Languages Teacher & Dept. Chair

Elizabeth Bush teaches American Sign Language 1, 2, 3, and 4 Dual Enrollment this year.  She is excited to start the year seeing familiar faces and many new faces taking ASL. Many people wonder how she became an ASL teacher. She started taking ASL in high school while in Fairfax County. After high school she went to Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina and majored in ASL and minored in Interpreting. She then went to Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. to earn a Master's Degree in Deaf Studies with a concentration in Deaf History. (Ask her about how the invention of motor vehicles has impacted the Deaf community! That was her thesis.) While in graduate school she interpreted part-time with Fairfax County Public Schools. After earning her M.A. she taught in Fairfax County for three years then at Heritage High School before coming to Rock Ridge when it opened.  She also sponsors the ASL Club and ASL Honor Society.
