Mrs. Shari Adwers

Shari Adwers is in her fifth year at Valley, but it's her 25th teaching. She spent the first 20 years of her career in Michigan, where she taught English and journalism and advised newspaper, yearbook, online media and literary magazine. 

A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Adwers holds a bachelor's degree in education and a master's in curriculum, instruction and assessment.

She is the Educational Initiatives Director for the Journalism Education Association and was the president of the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association. 

With a focus on mentoring young journalists, she embraces challenges, emphasizes student leadership and maximizes talent. 

When not at school, Adwers loves to cook, read, garden, travel and spend time outdoors with her husband, Ryan, and their dogs.
