Julie Edwards

Mrs. Julie Edwards is thrilled to be teaching Foundations of Algebra, Pre-algebra, and Coding at Middle School I (CAMS) during her third year at Brambleton Middle School. Mrs. Edwards was born in Washington D.C. and has lived in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Texas, and Oklahoma. She returned to Northern Virginia in 1998 and is happy to call this beautiful area of the country home.

In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family, singing, playing piano, writing, coaching field hockey, and performing in community theater. She is a lifelong learner who is never content to sit still. She recently began learning guitar. Fun Facts: Mrs. Edwards played roller derby for two years with the DC Rollergirls. She has also performed at the Kennedy Center, Ford's Theatre, and the Music Center at Strathmore.

Mrs. Edwards believes everyone is a math person. She hopes to bring excitement and awareness of real-world mathematics to her students while exploring new and creative ways to solve problems. In her classroom, mistakes are embraced and are used as learning experiences to "fail forward."

Assistance is available in room 712 on A-Day mornings from 8-8:30 AM and after school by prior arrangement.

Welcome mathletes!

I hope you all are as excited for the 2019-20 school year as I am! #BAMserves, #BAMinnovates

My goal is to develop flexible thinkers who can draw from a variety of mathematical principles in solving problems. We will collaborate and communicate a lot in class to show our mathematical reasoning and to justify our solutions. I believe that by setting up positive norms in math class all students will feel encouraged to ask questions, take risks and value mistakes as part of a positive learning process.

This is my 5th year teaching in Loudoun County. Prior to joining the Bears I worked as a 3rd and 5th grade teacher at Sully Elementary.

I am looking forward to a fantastic #BAMyr3 in Math!
