My name is Jen Cherry and I am a 7th Grade English Teacher at BAM!

The 2019-2020 school year will be my ninth year with Loudoun. I began my teaching career with Pinebrook Elementary, where I taught third and fifth grade. I then entered the world of middle school, opening Trailside and then Brambleton. This year will be my fifth year in the 7th grade English classroom. Working with 7th Grade is my happy place because of the rich conversations, thought provoking ideas, and opportunities to attack challenges.

After graduating from North Carolina State University (Go Pack!!), I left my home in Raleigh and moved to Northern Virginia. My husband and I have lived in the area for twelve years now, finally settling down in Loudoun. We are lucky to have two amazing children, Riley and Luke. They are adventurous and love to try anything, even if it scares me... I love summer break, because it allows me the opportunity to embark on local explorations daily with the two of them. As a family, we love to travel, camp, and play sports. As a person, I love to read pretty much anything, binge watch my favorite shows (The Office, Friends, and Parks & Rec), craft, and play with photography. You'll also see that I collect Funko characters when you step in the classroom!

I began my teaching career in Massachusetts in 1995. I’ve taught every grade from third through eighth. I love working in middle school. It’s the best place to be. This year, Room 638 will be my home. We will spend time learning in both my Communications and Accelerated Literacy classes. The communications classes will be responsible for creating our B-AM Morning News Show. You can find our news on YouTube or on our Communications Website

I hail from Western Massachusetts, Springfield, to be exact...which is also the home of basketball and Dr. Seuss. I’ve lived in Northern Virginia since the year 2000. Boston College is my alma mater and there I majored in English. Immediately after graduation, I moved to South Orange, NJ to get my master's degree in Education at Seton Hall University. Currently, I am a Teacher Consultant with the Northern Virginia Writing Project. Being a part of this organization inspires my teaching and practice of writing. I’m currently working on a book of my very own.

Welcome, Bears! I am thrilled to be back for my third year at Brambleton Middle School. I was an LCPS student from 5th-12th grade and graduated from Stone Bridge HS. I earned degrees from Virginia Tech and Radford University and came home to Loudoun to fulfill my teaching dream and give back to this wonderful community.

I live in Leesburg and enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my sweet German shepherd mix. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading, exploring new places, and playing/watching sports. I am a huge fan of the VT Hokies, Dallas Cowboys, New York Mets, and New York Islanders.

Previously, I taught 4th grade at Seldens Landing ES and 5th grade at Creighton's Corner ES. I have always been passionate about reading and writing, and I enjoy sharing that with my 6th grade students at BAM. We are going to #CLIMBtogether as learners and contributors, while we strive to work hard, take risks, and support each other on the journey. Get ready for a great year!

My name is Taylor Johnston, and I can't wait to kick off another fantastic year at BAM! Back in the day, I was an LCPS student myself and graduated from Loudoun Valley High School. I left the area to attend William & Mary, but I wasn’t gone long. After graduate school, I returned to Loudoun to teach in the community I grew up in. Creighton’s Corner Elementary became my first school “home”, and I have enjoyed partnering with families here in Brambleton ever since!

Both at home and at school, I enjoy spending time outdoors. Whether I am cruising on my bike, adventuring with my dog, riding horses, or hanging out with a good book, that is where you will usually find me. Baking is another hobby of mine; when I'm indoors, I can often be found making enough cookies to feed a small army.

This year, we will make memories of taking chances, laughing, and growing as readers and writers. I hope you are looking forward to it as much as I am!

Hello!  I am extremely excited to be a part of Brambleton Middle School.  I grew up in North Carolina and joined the United States Air Force as soon as I graduated high school.  I was an Emergency Medical Technician in the Air Force and spent time in Texas and East Asia.  Once I left the Air Force, I spent several years in the Transportation and Logistics Industry before finding my true calling: TEACHING!

I look forward to sharing my love of reading and writing with the students at BAM as we think, create, and grow together as lifelong learners.  GO BEARS!
