Mrs. Jean Austin
Mrs. Jean Austin earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Old Dominion University and her Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Instructional Services from Virginia Tech - Go HOKIES! She is currently teaching 8th Grade Civics with a great team of teachers and serves as the SALT for Social Studies at Harper Park. She is also the co-coordinator for the National Geographic Bee and the 8th grade field trip to Hershey Park. Prior to working as a Civics teacher at Harper Park, she worked as a History 6 and 7 teacher and as an English and Reading and even math and Algebra at Seneca Ridge Middle School.
Mrs. Austin has been working at Harper Park since 2007. Both of her daughters went through Harper Park and she thinks that this is the best place to spend her days and evenings. She is looking forward to spending the year with your child and if you see her in the neighborhood, be sure to say Hi!

Finding Classroom Content beyond the Notebooks
The Schoology Folders will be organized by date and topic. If you are in search of a specific topic or assignment, this organization should be helpful for you. If you can't find something, feel free to email me.
The Schoology Civics Folder will house class notes, vocabulary definitions, practice assessments and Office Hours notifications under materials.
The Schoology Gradebook may have more assessments and entries than the StudentVue/ParentVue. Some assessments in Schoology will not translate to weighted points and will only be reflected in Schoology.
Homework is listed on my Schoology Civics Page. Most homework will be addressed in the Learning Lab.
