Kenneth Christopher
Director of School CounselingI am happy to begin my 17th year in the school counseling profession. I have served as a school counselor and soccer coach at West Springfield High School in Fairfax County Public Schools for six years, and five years as counselor and soccer coach at Freedom High School. In 2011, I was promoted to Director of School Counseling at Freedom High School.
Following an undergrad degree from Virginia Tech in Human Services, Family and Child Development, I earned a master’s degree in School Counseling, also from the Tech. Go Hokies! I am a member of Virginia School Counselors Association and the American School Counselors Association, and I also serve as an ASCA RAMP Reviewer for ASCA RAMP Applications submitted by counseling departments from around the country.
The Freedom School Counseling Department analyzes school-wide data to focus on systemic services and developmental grade level curriculum, but our primary goal is to focus on each individual student. The Freedom School Counseling Department earned its American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) designation, one of 240 elementary, middle and high schools in the country to earn this elite designation.
I have one daughter, Ava, who attends Little River Elementary School, and my wife works in administration at INOVA Alexandria Hospital. When not working, I am most likely on a soccer sideline or on a magical vacation on a Disney property somewhere. #DVC
