    Tonya Smith
    Assistant Principal

This will be my first year at Freedom High School serving in the role of Assistant Principal. I am a veteran educator having taught at several Loudoun County Public Schools:  Eagle Ridge Middle School, Briar Woods High School, and Park View High School. My classroom experiences included teaching all math levels from Math 7 in middle school through the Advanced Functions course in high school.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics from Malone University (Canton, Ohio), a Master’s Degree from George Mason University in Curriculum and Instruction, Integration of Technology in Schools, and an EdS degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from George Washington University.

This year I will be overseeing students in Grade 10 as well as the English, Social Science, and Career and Technical Education departments. My goal each day is to ensure that Freedom students are engaged, active participants in the classroom environment and leave Freedom each day having learned at least one new thing about themselves. In addition, I hope to see students, parents, and faculty working together to create a positive school community.

You will regularly see me and my family supporting the Freedom students and community by attending sporting events, drama productions, musical performances, and other special activities.
