Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Stephanie Portillo

This is Mrs. Portillo's third year teaching at Park View High School and her twenty first year of teaching Spanish.  She has taught in both private and public schools in Virginia. She has an Associates Degree from Richard Bland College and a Bachelors Degree in International Studies & Spanish from Virginia State University.  She also studied and lived abroad in Mexico City for seven years where she earned a Diploma of Foreign Studies specializing in Spanish and Mexican Art, History & Literature.

Mrs. Portillo lives in Stephens City, Va with her husband and sons ages fifteen, eighteen and twenty six. She is also a proud grandmother and has three dogs and a parrot. Her husband and children are from El Salvador so Spanish is the language of choice in their home and practicing/following the customs of the Spanish speaking world is a natural part of her daily life both at home and school.

Mrs. Portillo is very much looking forward to another year getting to know and becoming involved in the Park View community as well as sharing the amazing Spanish language and the incredibly interesting cultures of the Spanish speaking countries with her students.  Park View's diversity is one of the main attractions for her as she is excited to learn from our students as they share their cultures with her as well!

Mrs. Portillo also likes to help out with the Spanish National Honor Society, Spanish Club as well as other extracrurricular and service initiatives on campus.  She can frequently be found after school working with students in her classroom 2323.  She highly encourages students to invest the time and effort in retakes and submitting all assignments even if they are late. This truly is the only way we will all know what the students know and do not know in order to proceed accordingly. She also serves as one of Park View's Translators / Interpreters.

Please note that Mrs. Portillo invites any and all parents and guardians to monitor their student's success through our Google Classroom page.  To gain access, please ask your student to help you view their class page and Mrs. Portillo can gladly grant parent/guardian access by emailing her the parent/guardian emaill address.
