Miss Kelsey Lauritzen
Miss Lauritzen is a dedicated, energetic learning resource teacher, graduated from Western Governors University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Special Education.
While in college, Miss Lauritzen spent her time working in a variety of settings. She has supported a range of students including preschool through high school students that are typical functioning all the way to those with severe and profound disabilities. She has worked as support personnel in general education settings, program classrooms in local bourough or county schools, and self-contained school environments for students with significant learning and behavioral needs.
Building relationships and teaching life skills are the foundation of Miss Lauritzen's approach to teaching. She has also supported adults with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder as a Community Integration Specialist and Behavior Supports Coordinator. Supporting transition age students, particularly those who are returning graduates for post-graduate work, motivates her to assure that all students have skills necessary to become productive and fulfilled members within their community.
She grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and still roots for the Pittsburgh Penguins! She likes to ice-skate, fence, run, lift weights and stay active in many other ways. Music concerts and festivals are also a favorite hobby and Miss Lauritzen spends her summer attending a bunch of live music shows!
