Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Cowling

My name is Lori Cowling. I am excited to be at Pinebrook in the K-2 Autism classroom for the sixth year. This is my thirteenth year as a special education teacher and 17th working with students with special needs. I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from George Mason University. I live close to school and am the proud mother of three children. Two are in middle school and my oldest graduated from John Champe High School class of 2020. I took a break from teaching while living in Wisconsin for 11 years, but remained active within education as a classroom assistant, worked one-on-one with a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder and also spent five years with Renaissance Learning, Inc. My philosophy is to work with each student to help them reach their potential. We will work on academics (both SOLs and IEP goals), communication, social skills and behavior and have FUN while learning and growing. I have a new team with me this year, and know they will be enthusiastic, dynamic and supportive!  Feel free to contact me with any questions you have and I look forward to the 2021-2022 school year!
