Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Wafaa Elmahgob
Welcome to Ashburn Elementary! My name is Wafaa Elmahgob, I'm very excited to be your child's first grade teacher. This is my third year teaching at Ashburn Elementary and my 10th year of teaching in LCPS.
I was born in Tripoli, Libya; however, I grew up in Alexandria, Egypt, where I received my bachelor's degree in Greek, Roman, and Egyptian Archeology. I moved to the states with my husband 25 years ago. I taught full day Kindergarten for 3 years, ELL for five years, and before that I was a pre-K teacher for twelve years, during that time, I received my degree of science in Early Childhood Education, and a certificate in teaching English as a Second Language. Within the last five years, I earned my master's degree in Reading Specialist. I also earned my certificate in Elementary education from Shenandoah University. Last year I earned my National Board Certification and a certificate in specialized reading from George Mason University.
I live with my husband and my three amazing children in Ashburn. When I'm not teaching, I love to exercise, read, and spend time with my family.
As a teacher and a parent, I believe that a solid relationship between the school life and the home life is essential for the educational development of your children. Parents play a fundamental role in helping their child learn the skills necessary to succeed in school. I would like to maintain communication to obtain an effective collaboration between us. You're always welcome to contact me with any questions or concerns at Wafaa.Elmahgob@lcps.org.
I hope to hear from you soon!
