Mrs. Wafaa Elmahgob
Welcome to Ashburn Elementary! My name is Wafaa Elmahgob, I'm very excited to be your child's second-grade teacher. This is my fourth year teaching at Ashburn Elementary and my 11th year of teaching in LCPS.
I was born in Tripoli, Libya; however, I grew up in Alexandria, Egypt, where I received my bachelor's degree in Greek, Roman, and Egyptian Archeology. I moved to the states with my husband 27 years ago. I taught full-day Kindergarten for 3 years, ELL for five years, and before that, I was a pre-K teacher for twelve years, during that time, I received my degree of science in Early Childhood Education, and a certificate in teaching English as a Second Language. Within the last five years, I earned my master's degree in Reading Specialist. I also earned my certificate in Elementary education from Shenandoah University. Last year I earned my National Board Certification and a certificate in specialized reading from George Mason University.
I live with my husband and my three amazing children in Ashburn. When I'm not teaching, I love to exercise, read, and spend time with my family.
As a teacher and a parent, I believe that a solid relationship between school life and home life is essential for the educational development of your children. Parents play a fundamental role in helping their children learn the skills necessary to succeed in school. I would like to maintain communication to obtain an effective collaboration between us. You're always welcome to contact me with any questions or concerns at Wafaa.Elmahgob@lcps.org.
I hope to hear from you soon!
