• Hello and thanks for taking the time to learn more about me! My name is Roger Mello and I have been an educator for 25 years. I came to Douglass two years ago after spending a number of years teaching and being an administrator in other counties in Virginia. I was born in Fairfax, Virginia. I attended Fairfax High School and, later, the University of Virginia. My wife, Ulrike Mayer-Mello, and I have four children between us and we love spending time with them. We are also excited to be grandparents to a wonderful 2 year-old boy named Deacan! My wife is also a teacher here at Douglass and we enjoy being able to work in the same building. Outside of work I love to do projects around the family farm, travel, and spend time kicking a ball back and forth with Deacan! Every summer my wife and I travel back to her hometown in Germany for a month, and we treasure the opportunity to spend time with her wonderful family. When not traveling, we are fortunate to live on a farm near Warrenton, Virginia where we are surrounded by my wonderful family.

I am certified to teach English and social studies. This year I will be teaching English 11 and 12. I am here at Douglass because I want to help students prepare for world beyond high school. Let's get started!

I look forward to the opportunity to meet you!
