Maral Abooali is an alumnus of Pototmac Falls High School and she is so excited to be back serving as the school psychologist. After graduating from PFHS in 2009, Maral attended Virginia Commonwealth Univeristy (Go Rams!) where she earned her B.S. in Psychology. She then attended George Mason University and earned her M.A./CAGS in School Psychology. Maral is passionate about working with teens, promoting mental wellness, and fostering the success of all students.
Outside of work, Maral loves to stay active! She has practiced Traditional Japanese Karate for ten years and has traveled to several countries in Europe and South America to compete as a member of Team USA. Maral also loves exercising, traveling, Netflix binges, and spending time with family and friends. Maral has two sisters who she's very close to and has a baby niece who she adores.
As part of Maral's work in supporting students' mental wellness, she presents the Signs of Suicide program to all freshmen. Signs of Suicide is a psychoeducational, evidence-based program that teaches students about the signs and symptoms of depression and suicide. Resources for Signs of Suicide are below:
