Mrs. Lewis

This is my 8th year at Lowes Island and my 16th year in education. My experience is varied and includes teaching English in Japan, substitute teaching, working as a special education teacher assistant, and teaching kids with special needs. Prior to my time in education, I worked as a Human Resources Manager, which I believe gives me a unique view on preparing students for independence (our ultimate goal). My philosophy revolves around building strong relationships with my students, so that they trust me and are willing to risk engaging in higher level thinking.

I live in the Potomac Falls area with my husband, my dog (Zucchini), and my cats (Mango & Kiwi). My oldest son is working on a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University where he also plays football. My youngest son graduated from Potomac Falls in the spring and is studying nursing at Shenandoah University where he also plays football. My outside interests include reading, travelling,and studying Japanese.
