Dr. Wendy Hockersmith
Wendy Hockersmith, Ed.D. (Dr. H.) is thrilled to be part of the fabulous Titan team at Dominion High School! Â She has over 15 years of experience in education and has served many rolls including special education teacher, library media specialist, adjunct professor at both Northern Virginia Community College and Marymount University, and most recently a reading specialist.Â Dr. Hockersmith holds an M.Ed. in Specific Learning Disabilities and her Doctorate from The George Washington University in Educational Administration and Policy Studies.Â In addition, she holds professional licenses from the State of Virginia including endorsements to teach as a Reading Specialist, Specific Learning Disabilities Teacher and Library Media Specialist.Â Her research interest is in college and career readiness with her most extensive study focusing on first generation college-going studentsâ€™ transition to community college and beyond.Â During the school day you can find her teaching students, in addition to collaborating with and supporting teachers plan and facilitate targeted instruction. Â Her priorities are to support students to achieve high levels of success while building essential literacy skills and confidence.
In her free time, she likes to spend time with her family.Â In addition, she enjoys yoga, art and absolutely loves reading!
