Mrs. Cornell is excited to return to the Lunsford Lions for the 2018-2019 school year. This is her 11th year of teaching and 6th in the role of a reading specialist. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Elementary and Kindergarten Education, K-6 in 2003 from the Pennsylvania State University. Mrs. Cornell taught two years in Osceola County, FL, before moving to Virginia. Then, she taught 3 years in Fairfax County as she completed her Masters of Art in Curriculum and Instruction: Reading Specialist K-12, from the Virginia Polytechnic and State University in 2008. Afterwards, she changed from a classroom teacher to a Reading Specialist in Fairfax County and fulfilled this role until deciding to stay home with her 3 children in 2012. Mrs. Cornell will be teaching Accelerated Literacy, Reading Strategies and Coteaching in English 6, 7 and 8. She is looking forward to utilizing our new intervention in Loudoun County: Leveled Literacy Intervention, LLI. Mrs. Cornell looks forward to a great year spreading the joy and love of reading to the Lunsford Community.
