Welcome to Fourth Grade!!
I would like to welcome you and your child to fourth grade at Newton Lee! This is my 15thyear of teaching and, after a few years of raising kids and teaching Kindergarteners, this will be my 12th year in 4th grade.
I have lived in Northern Virginia for 20 years. I grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Assumption College with a B.A. in English and Elementary Ed. I later graduated from George Mason University, earning a Masters in Teaching. My husband and I live in Ashburn with our three very active children. This year, we will have one child in Elementary, one in Middle, and one in High school!
We have a wonderful year ahead in Room 30! The fourth grade curriculum is very exciting and I can't wait to jump right in! We will delve deeply into the history of Virginia. We will learn about the important role Virginia played in the creation of our country and about the people and geography of this great state, as well! We will become stronger readers and writers as we cultivate our creative thinking and problem solving skills. In addition, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Kids will be incorporated into our weekly lessons as we aim to develop the leader in each one of our classmates. You can expect a great deal of growth this year- academically, socially, and personally!
I look forward to working with all families to make this a fun and enriching fourth grade experience for your child!
