Hello, I am Ms. Vece! I am very excited to be back at Trailside Middle School this year, working at a school I love with a supportive staff environment. This year I will be teaching Math 7 and Algebra 1! 

     In the past, I attended the University of Virginia and received a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a mathematics specialization. My bachelor's degree is from Longwood Univerisity where I majored in Liberal Studies for Elementary and Middle School Education with a mathematics concentration. Go Lancers and Cavaliers! 

     I grew up in Nothern Virginia attending schools in Fairfax County. I moved down to Farmville, Virginia to attend college but could not resist coming back home to be near my family. Family is very important to me. If you are in my class this year, be prepared to hear stories about my nieces and nephew frequently. 

     I teach math because of the impact this subject has had on my life. When I was in middle school, I had a fantastic math teacher who brought the subject to life and gave it meaning. I no longer saw math as a subject full of tricks and endless algorithms. I began to see mathematics as a puzzle and language full of organization and logic. I plan to fill my classroom with the same passion. My top goals for my students would be that they walk out of my classroom with an understanding of the subject and the ability to both think about and analyze mathematics situations instead of simply trying to follow procedures.
