Another amazing year is about to start for our Trailside Team for this school year! It is a privilege to be your teacher, we are going to have a wonderful journey together. As this is my 3rd year at Trailside, this school year marks my 16th year of teaching. I started my professional journey in 2000 when I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Delaware with a concentration in Mathematics. (Go Blue Hens!). I taught for three years in Brandywine School District before moving to Virginia in 2003. I taught in Fairfax County, both fifth grade and first grade, for four years before making the move out to Loudoun County in 2007. I opened Rosa Lee Carter Elementary School in 2007, where I taught first grade for two years. When my son started Kindergarten in 2009, I took some time off to be home with him, and returned to Rosa Lee Carter in 2013 to teach 5th grade. I knew that middle school is where my journey was taking me and I am honored and privileged to be a part of this amazing pack! Sixth grade is a wonderful year of new adventures, new experiences and growth; I am honored to be a part of your journey
On a personal note, I am married, have a son who will be in his sophomore year at Tuscarora High School, a 3 year daughter, and two step-daughters, one who is in her freshman year at Heritage HIgh School and another who just started her second year at Old Dominion University. My family and I enjoy traveling, reading, cooking, going to the beach, visiting the lake, and spending time with our adorable 6-1/2 year old Vizsla, Stella.
