I am thrilled to begin my first year at Riverside High School.  This will be my sixteenth year as a high school teacher and my experience includes public and private schools in Maryland, Tennessee, and Virginia.  Before joining the Ram Fam I taught AP US History and US History at Potomac Falls High School for four years.  I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and attended Salisbury University for my undergraduate degree.  I obtained my Master of Arts in Teaching from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and have more recently earned eighteen graduate level history credits from George Mason.

Teaching truly is the best job in the world and I consider it to be a privilege to have an opportunity to work with your children.  I consider it to be a responsibility of a quality educator to bring out the best in students and challenge them with a rigorous and relevant environment.  I am very passionate about my subject matter and am committed to continue my own studies in history in order to enhance the experience of my students.

Although I played lacrosse and rugby in college, I have transitioned into triathlon in my older years.  When I am not in the classroom or hitting the pavement I enjoy spending time with my family.  I have a wonderful husband and we are fortunate to have three wonderful children.

Department Grading Policy Department Reassessment policy

All classes determine a student’s grade by utilizing two categories of assessments when calculating the quarter grade. Summative assessments include tests, essays, and projects and will determine 90% of the grade. Formative assessments, including homework and classwork, will determine 10% of the grade.

Reassessments are an option for students who earn below an 84% on the original assessment. Prior remediation is required before taking the reassessment. Remediation assignments and reassessments must be completed in accordance with the published deadlines. Students may earn up to a 84% on the reassessment.

Retests will ONLY be given on Monday and Tuesday mornings at 8:15 and on the afternoon of the activity bus.
