Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Shelah Novak
Hello! My name is Shelah Novak and I am teaching 6th grade English for the 2019 - 2020 school year. My tenure with Loudoun County began in 1999 when I was a charter member of Harper Park Middle School where I taught all grade levels of English. For 13 years I served as the SALT (Subject Area Lead Teacher) until I transferred to Stone Bridge High School to teach 10th and 11th grades. After three years at the high school level, I decided to return to middle school and become a charter staff member of Brambleton Middle School.
Originally I am from Syracuse, New York, and attended the State University of New York at Potsdam where I received my BA degree in English Education. I then earned my MA degree from New York University through a study abroad program where I spent two summers at Oxford University in England and one summer on the NYU campus in New York City. In addition, I have participated in the Northern Virginia Writing Project at George Mason University and the Children's Literature Conference at Shenandoah University.
Some interests of mine include traveling, outdoor activities, and watching Washington Capitals hockey.
I look forward to an exciting year at Brambleton Middle School.
