Welcome to #BAMyr3. I am so excited to work with each of you for the 2019-2020 school year!
Born and raised in West Virginia, I have lived in two very dramatically different parts of the Mountain State - Southern West Virginia and the Eastern Panhandle! I have been a resident of Loudoun County, Virginia for the past 16 years and have lived in many cities and towns across our beautiful and historic county. I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia and I earned my Master's Degree from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. This year begins my 15th year teaching middle school history and I am proud to have spent my entire teaching career for Loudoun County Public Schools. As a charter staff member of Brambleton Middle School, I have taught both 6th and 7th grade history for the past two years. Prior to becoming a Brambleton Bear, I spent 12 years teaching 6th and 7th grade history at Farmwell Station Middle School, where I served as the Social Studies Department Lead Teacher. I couldn't be more excited for #BAMyr3 to begin as we have so many wonderful new initiatives and learning opportunities for our young bears...Go Bears! My goal every year is to have students become interested in history and the world around them through a variety of fun, interactive, and engaging activities/lessons as they learn about the events of the past and present.
I currently live and reside in Round Hill, VA with my wife Sarah (also a history teacher) and our two sons Drew (4.5 years old) and Jack (20 months old). We are expecting our third child (a daughter) in December of this year. I am a huge history buff who enjoys traveling, learning about other cultures, watching TV/movies, playing/watching sports, cooking on my grill, hanging out with family and friends, reading, participating in outdoor activities, and enjoying life. I am a fan of the following sports teams: Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, Orioles, Nationals, WV Mountaineers, and SEC college football.
