Jackie Gutierrez begins her 20th year in education. She holds a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Science in Education with a specialization in Biology from the University of North Texas. Additionally she earned her certification in ELL and Early Childhood in both Texas and Virginia.
Now entering her 20th year in education Mrs. Gutierrez taught 18 years in both a preschool and an elementary setting. While In Texas, she taught 1st grade and was honored with the title of Teacher of the Year in 2010. Upon moving to Virginia she began teaching 1st grade at Steuart Weller Elementary, and later went on to teach both 3rd, and 4th grade classes. Most recently she worked as a Site Based Instructional facilitator for Guilford Elementary in Sterling.
As an instructional leader, Mrs. Gutierrez has been involved in many initiatives throughout her career that emphasized the 21st Century skills our students need to enter the upcoming workforce. Working together with district teams she designed professional developments in the areas of Science inquiry, STEAM, and Rubric development.
As a classroom teacher Mrs. Gutierrez strove to create classroom culture that fostered the joy in learning through authentic learning experiences and thoughtful collaboration. Mrs. Gutierrez believes in that the joy in education can be fostered through a positive environment filled with authentic experiences. She is honored to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on a child’s life, and is excited for her classroom to expand further. Her classroom, which she nicknamed ‘The Garden’ served to cultivate all learners, each working and growing together. She is looking forward to being a part of the KWC community and will continue to strive to provide the best educational experience for every Croc at KWC.
