Hello and thank you for visiting my biography page! My name is Jarret Velasco and I'm excited to be going into my third year as a special education teracher. This year I will be with the fourth grade team here at Rolling Ridge. Special Education was not my first career choice, but it has become my passion. Fresh out of high school, I attended the Art Institute of Washington to become a chef. After earning my Culinary Arts Degree, I worked as a chef at Clydes Willow Creek Farm in Ashburn, and I also managed a small catering company. After 10 years, I decided to go back to school to pursue a career in education. I earned my bachelor's degree in history from George Mason University with a minor in Mild Disabilities. Last year was my second year at Rolling Ridge and I can't wait for next year to begin. I am currently taking graduate courses from George Mason in Special Education. I'm very proud to be a third generation Spanish American. Outside of teaching I love reading history books, doing research and writing history, cooking for family and friends, traveling the world, and spending time with my wife Pamela. I met my wife of four years Pamela while traveling in the Philippines. Thank you I look forward to another awesome year of learning at Rolling Ridge!
