Degrees and Certifications:
I am the French teacher. First and foremost, I am passionate about my work. I have a teaching certificate in French (K-12) and a Master degree (Integration Curriculum in Special Education). I have been teaching since 1999 and I am so happy to start my third year at Trailside Middle School. I am a mom of 3 children, Mounia/16 years old, Sabri/14 years old, and Lilia/11 years old. My husband is a Science teacher in High School.
I was a homeroom teacher in Belgium for 4 years before I came in Louisiana. It was quite a change to go from being a homeroom teacher to a French second-language teacher. The change was not easy but my love for my profession helped me adapt and understand what was expecting from me. I am well aware now that learning a second language takes time. So, to reach my students, I use several methods, different literacy strategies, meaningful activities, and real-life situations. I also adapt and differentiate my lessons.
My experience in Louisiana was so rewarding in so many levels. I grew as a professional and as a human being. My family and I did a road trip couple of summers ago from Louisiana to California, stopping by New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and Texas; it was so stunning and amazingly beautiful. This trip made us realize how much the United States have to offer. We wanted to expose our children to a variety of educational challenges. So after some research, we realized that Virginia is the perfect fit for all of us.
Beside teaching, I love cooking (my Belgium waffles are really good), dancing, travelling, and shopping.
I cannot wait to meet my students and take the opportunity to expose them to the French world and culture.
Parents and guardians, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me via email, I will do my best to respond within 24 hours.
