Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Fox

Hello and welcome to Room 7! My name is Valerie Fox, and I am delighted to be returning once again to Pinebrook Elementary as a Kindergarten teacher for the 2021-22 school year.  This is my 19th year teaching, having taught previously for 13 years with Fairfax County Public schools as a learning disabilities teacher prior to moving to Loudoun County in 2004.  I am dually certified in both elementary and special education.  I earned my Bachelor's degree from California University of Pennsylvania in Elementary/Special Education and my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Pittsburgh.  I am originally from the Pittsburgh area but have been living in Northern Virginia for the past 30 years.  That being said, I am a die-hard Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates fan!!

I am very much looking forward to returning to a more normal teaching enviornment following the challenges we've faced for the past year-and-a-half due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. This year in Kindergarten we will be building our literacy and math skills, conducting some really cool experiments in science, learning about community helpers and famous Americans, practicing being good friends and responsible citizens, and of course, having lots of fun with our new classmates.

To quote Dr. Seuss (one of our favorite authors in Kindergarten), "The more you read, the more things you will know.  The more that you learn, the more places you'll go!" Our journey is underway!!
