Welcome to US History from 1865!I am excited to begin my fourth year at Seneca Ridge with you. My classroom will be in B-14 this year. This year we will be studying American history from Reconstruction to the present. Students will be involved in lots of project-based learning, and I will also incorporate opportunities for personalized learning. I believe in letting students explore their interests and use their own knowledge to learn and understand more about our nation's past. Here's a little about me:I earned my Master's in Education from George Mason University in 2015. I taught English 7 at Farmwell Station Middle School before moving to SRMS in 2016, where I taught English 8 for two years. I now am in my second year teaching History 7, and am looking forward to sharing my love of history with all of you. Before I began this career, I taught college in Chicago, IL while pursuing a career as a historian at the University of Illinois, Chicago. I have an MA in history and museum education from Tufts University (2004) and earned my BA from Scripps College in 2002.When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my two sons Ben and Joe, my husband, and our dog Aggie. I like to go hiking and exploring different places in the area. At home, I spend a lot of time reading, knitting, or cooking.I'm looking forward to getting to know my students and families this year! You can always email me, and I will respond in a timely fashion. All homework will be posted on our Google Classroom website.
