    Ms. Van Acker

Ms. Van Acker is entering her 12th year as an educator.  She began her career as an inclusion teacher in Southwest Virginia, co-teaching in 8th grade English and Math.  For three years, she worked in the self-contained setting as a middle school teacher of students within the Communication Support Program in York County, Virginia.  Her career in Loudoun County began at Mercer Middle School as a Cross Categorical  teacher in English and History.  She was a founding staff member at Cardinal Ridge Elementary, serving in the self-contained Autism classroom for students grades 3-5.  She is excited to continue working with 8th grade English as a resource teacher.

Ms. Van Acker earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Elon University and received her Master of Education degree in Special Education from Liberty University.  She is also endorsed in Middle Grades Language Arts.  When she is not teaching, Ms. Van Acker enjoys hanging out with her family (husband and 2 sons), running and reading!   She is looking forward to sharing her love for reading with her students this year!

*Starting October 1, we will begin reading The Giver by Lois Lowry. Because we do not have enough copies for all of our eighth graders, we ask parents to purchase a copy for their students, if possible. Any edition of the book is acceptable, and hand-me-down copies are encouraged!

This year, we will use the Remind app to send reminder texts when assignments and/or homework are due.  Students are encouraged to sign up for these text reminders, and parents are welcome to do so as well. Simply text the code below to 81010:
