She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from The University of Maryland and a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University. Prior to becoming a teacher, Ms. Gittelman worked as an Instructional Designer for 20 years, developing competency-based degree programs. Her favorite author is Roald Dahl, because his books always make reading a magical experience for her. Ms. Gittelman lives in South Riding with her husband and two sons - the eldest is a sophomore at The College of William and Mary, and the youngest is a Senior at Freedom. When she's not teaching, Ms. Gittelman enjoys training for and competing in triathlons.
