Teacher Biography
This year, Ms. Gittelman is teaching English 9H and AP Literature and Composition. She will be coaching Cross-Country and Track for the third year. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from The University of Maryland and a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University. Prior to becoming a teacher, Ms. Gittelman worked as an Instructional Designer for 20 years, developing competency-based degree programs. Her favorite author is Roald Dahl, because his books always make reading a magical experience for her. Ms. Gittelman lives in South Riding with her husband and two sons - the eldest is a sophomore at The College of William and Mary, and the youngest is a Senior at Freedom. When she's not teaching, Ms. Gittelman enjoys training for and competing in triathlons.
Required supplies for all students:-
ONE 1.5" binder
- 5 tabs
- Lined paper
- Pens, pencils, highlighters (at least 2 of each)
- Post-it notes
- Independent reading book (student choice)
Daily classroom updates (including assignments and homework) will be posted in Schoology. Students should log in regularly to review what we did in class. This is especially important if they have been absent!
