    Hello Mustangs,

I am thrilled to have YOU in my class. Middle school years are exciting, with tremendous growth. I hope to make your experience here more enjoyable and that your love for learning will grow and last throughout your life. My goal this year is to create a community of learners who take pride in their work and actively engage in becoming lifelong readers.

This is my thirteenth year teaching in Loudoun County and twentieth year in public schools. I have had the honor to be a reading specialist, science teacher, elementary teacher, as well as a special education teacher. I also worked internationally with women and orphans throughout Asia, South Africa, and Romania for five years.

I will do my best to prepare you for academic success. Reading is a key to accomplishing that goal. In our class, you will read daily, both on your own and as a class. We will work diligently on vocabulary, fluency, and reading comprehension. Reading Strategies will be taught through a variety of fiction genres, nonfiction text, and current events. Literacy is the connection to all of your academic areas as well as social and emotional well-being.

Please feel free to contact me by email anytime, Kimberly.OHara@lcps.org or our school number is 571-252-2840.

I look forward, with great anticipation, to getting to know you!
